James is a saxophonist and teacher in Canyon/Amarillo, Texas, where he serves as the Assistant Professor of Saxophone at West Texas A&M University, maintaining an active saxophone studio, directing a university jazz ensemble, and overseeing the athletic pep band.

 

He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Texas Tech University where he was a graduate teaching assistant for the studio of David Dees. He was a founding member and the current soprano saxophone chair of the Mirasol Quartet, which is dedicated to its mission of education through chamber music and has been recognized internationally.

 

James is proud to endorse Selmer Saxophones and D'Addario Reeds as a performing artist and serves as a D'Addario Reserve Method Clinician.
